NCR Sponsored Pelosi’s Outrageous Speech at Washington “Catholic” Conference

We posted this news item yesterday, but what follows are Speaker Pelosi’s exact words, delivered May 6, about following the Incarnate Word. My comments follow hers.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, addressing a May 6 Catholic conference on Capitol Hill, said she believes Catholics must pursue public policy in keeping with the values of “the Word made flesh” and must be prepared to answer to Jesus Christ for how their actions “measured up.” Pelosi, a pro-abortion rights Catholic, has been rebuked for her statements supporting abortion.

“They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”

“And that Word is, we have to give voice to what that means in terms of public policy that would be in keeping with the values of the Word. The Word. Isn’t it a beautiful word when you think of it? It just covers everything. The Word.

“Fill it in with anything you want. But, of course, we know it means: ‘The Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us’,” she continued, referring to the Prologue of the Gospel of John’s description of Jesus Christ.

“And that’s the great mystery of our faith. He will come again. He will come again. So, we have to make sure we’re prepared to answer in this life, or otherwise, as to how we have measured up.” Read more here.

My comments:

Pelosi gets away with it. I wonder why? Where’s the uproar from the secularist peanut gallery? What happened to the ever-ready vanguard of the separation of Church and State militia? Imagine if a pro-life statesman made similar remarks, or even hinted that their political polices would be in conformity with their Christian religion. Not a word of protest against our Speaker of the House from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State, TheocracyWatch, Freedom From Religion Foundation, the JDL, or the ACLU. I doubt that any American Christian politician, or prominent candidate for office, ever spoke so explicitly, as a politician or candidate, about being guided by the measure of “the Word Made Flesh” — at least not in my lifetime. Not Pat Buchanan, not Sam Brownback, not Alan Keyes, not Duncan Hunter, not Chuck Baldwin, not even Pastor Mike Huckabee. What they said on the moral issues of abortion and same sex “marriage,” without mentioning Jesus Christ or the Bible, was enough to win them accusations from scores of secular humanists and the anti-Christian media of fomenting a Christian theocratic revolution in America. But against Pelosi? Not a word. Why is that? Simple. Actions speak louder than “human words.” To the Divine Word who said, “Suffer the little ones to come unto me,” the Speaker of the House has her own word, which says that she favors funneling tax payer money to provide women the government funded service of having their little ones killed in the womb, or having their skulls opened up with pincers and their brains suctioned out while the rest of the living little ones’ bodies are being partially born. She has her own word on marriage as well, endorses same-sex “marriage,” which is opposed to the law of the Divine Word, and the law of nature imprinted by the Divine Word in every human heart. “For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh” (Matt 19:5, Genesis 2:24).
