Pope Francis ‘Very Much in Favor’ of Women’s Diaconate, Says Italian Theologian

National Catholic Register, Edward Pentin:

Pope Francis is “very much in favor” of a female diaconate and is looking to extend to all the baptized “some rights” that until recently belonged only to bishops, priests and religious, an Italian theologian has said.

In a series of statements, Salesian Sister Linda Pocher said the issue of a female diaconate was brought up at a Feb. 5-7 meeting she attended of the Council of Cardinals, also called the “C9,” a nine-member body Pope Francis established in 2013 to advise him on Church governance and reform.
