He was the sixth Pope of the Catholic Church. He succeeded Saint Anacletus in the year 112. He was the Pope who divided Rome into its parishes and set up the dignity of cardinal priests. Saint Evaristus was martyred for the Catholic Faith. He was buried near the tomb of Saint Peter.
