Saint Romuald (1027)

He was a Benedictine monk, and later an abbot.  He was the founder of the Camaldolese Order of the Benedictines in 1024.  His life was written by Saint Peter Damian, Doctor of the Church.

In San Romualdo, painted for the Church of San Romualdo, Ravenna, by Guercino, 1641, an angel uses the abbot’s baton to chastise an errant figure (Pinatoceca Comunale, Ravenna).
