Let’s be clear. Sister Maureen McInerny, the School’s Board of directors, and its head, Cecily Stock, did not remove Our Lady, rather Our Lady left them. The school is 80% non-Catholic. A statue of Mary and the Baby Jesus in this syncretistic slough would have been a blasphemous contradiction. And who is Mirza Khan, the school’s director of philosophy, ethics, and world religions, who says it is “well within the school’s Dominican tradition” not to teach Catholic theology? Is she even Christian?
The College Fix: A San Francisco area Catholic school has removed several statues of religious figures — including Jesus and Mary — all in the name of, you guessed it, being “more inclusive.” The report is here.
