Since 1990 Two Thousand Catholic Schools Closed in USA

We all know the causes.  Contraception.  Vocation crisis, sex education, lack of Catholic identity, and, the social gospels’ replacement of sound Catholic catechetics: doctrine, scripture, morals, and Church history.  I am sure you can add to that other etc,’s.  But what is the first cause? The denial of the doctrine that “there is no salvation outside the Church.” I mean, there used to be a reason for a Catholic school education — the salvation of the youth.

Catholic Culture reports: More than 2,000 Catholic schools in the United States have closed since 1990, half of them in the past eight years, according to an article published yesterday in the New York Times. Enrollment is down by over half since its peak four decades ago.
