Everyone is so “happy.” I don’t know where to begin. Red China could care less about the Dalai Lama and his religion. What’s with Tibet? Why are the Reds interested in Tibet? Religion? Are you serious? What is there in Tibet? Oil? Minerals? I don’t know. Someone tell me. Why are the Reds interested in Tibet? This isn’t industrious Taiwan. The Dalai Lama is as innocuous as they come to atheists. His “religion” means nothing. It says “nothing.” Should be no problem with the godless Communists. Maybe the Dalai Lama is just plain anti-Communist? Is this whole thing over independence? I do not think this is the main issue. 90% of the Chinese are Buddhist. That’s fine with the Reds. It’s the Catholic Church that they persecute for religion — the dual loyalty issue over the pope — not the Buddhists. The Reds could care less about Buddhism. Most of them these days are probably secret Buddhists themselves. There must be something in Tibet that translates into money. That’s what I think. Or, maybe it’s just hegemony; don’t buck the mighty empire. Or, perhaps the creed of global Marxist socialism is still a factor?
