Texas Governor Proclaims April Abortion Recovery Awareness Month

LifeNews reports: — Governor Rick Perry has issued a proclamation designating April as Abortion Recovery Awareness Month and April 18th as Hope for Life Day. “Ending a pregnancy through abortion interrupts the natural birth process and creates significant trauma and stress for those involved in the pregnancy,” he said. An abortion is a tragic ending, not only because of the loss of a life, but also because of the physical and psychological trauma caused by the procedure itself. This often leads to lasting emotional and mental health problems for the mother, father and other involved family members.” Women who are leaders in the post-abortion movement are elated. Lisa Dudley, the national director of Operation Outcry, told LifeNews.com, “I applaud Governor Perry for recognizing the harm of abortion to women and setting aside this month to focus on the truth about abortion and the need for recovery.” Molly White, of the Texas affiliate of the group, said, “For years after my abortion, I suffered from shame, guilt, anxiety, bonding issues, drug and alcohol abuse, self loathing. I lived in denial that abortion was the root cause of my emotional and psychological trauma until I was encouraged to participate in an abortion recovery program. That day my healing and restoration began.”
