The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s website features a “hate crime” section. Among the FBI’s recommended resources for this particular page is a link to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC is the Montgomery, Ala.-based non-profit that tracks ‘hate’ groups and claims to champion the civil rights of poor minorities.
Once upon a time, the SPLC sued the Ku Klux Klan and won big settlements.
But the KKK is passé, so the SPLC now has a “Teaching Tolerance” project aimed at educating youngsters against prejudice, and the “Hatewatch” blog has replaced “Klanwatch.”
Yes, the SPLC still has a thing for targeting outlaws, but only “right-wing” ones. (Read more…)
