No Communion If You Voted for Obama Priest Tells Parishioners

Bravo! A priest who defends the Eucharist from profanation. I’ve been trying to tell Catholics the same thing every election, “if you vote for a pro-abort don’t go to Communion, you’ve lost the Faith,” but it’s refreshing to read that at least there’s one priest who can stand up and make a clear, direct, and unmodified moral statement. Maybe more pastors will catch the fire. But Father Newman is not alone. His co-presbyter at St. Mary’s is Father Dwight Longenecker, an ex fundamentalist Protestant and alumnus of notoriously anti-Catholic Bob Jones University. It’s a wonderful thing when God arranges for uncompromising priests to work together at the same parish.

Yahoo News: COLUMBIA, S.C. – A South Carolina Roman Catholic priest has told his parishioners that they should refrain from receiving Holy Communion if they voted for Barack Obama because the Democratic president-elect supports abortion, and supporting him “constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil.”

The Rev. Jay Scott Newman said in a letter distributed Sunday to parishioners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville that they are putting their souls at risk if they take Holy Communion before doing penance for their vote.
