She was the daughter of a duke and a descendant of Charlemagne, the great Holy Roman Emperor. Blessed Ida was the mother of Godfrey de Bouillon who fought valiantly in the First Crusade. After her husband’s death, Blessed Ida dedicated herself as an Oblate in the Benedictine Order. She died a most holy death when she was seventy-three years old.
