Gender Surgery for Minors Is Child Abuse

The following is a Catholic Action League of Massachusetts press statement…

On Monday, June 15th, Reporter Gayla Cawley of the Boston Herald, contacted the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, seeking a comment on the demand of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who complained that the federal government ought to fund so-called gender affirming care for youth, rather than a new White House ballroom.

The Mayor’s remarks were delivered at the annual Pride flag raising ceremony at City Hall Plaza on June 1st, the kick-off of Pride Month in Boston.

In response, League Executive Director C. J. Doyle issued the following statement:

When Mayor Wu refers to so-called gender affirming care, she is resorting to a deceptive euphemism to disguise the surgical and chemical mutilation of minors, which is child abuse.

We are contantly told by those in the criminal justice system that youthful offenders may not be fully responsible for their actions because their brain development does not mature until they are in their twenties.

If that is so, why are irreversible surgical procedures being performed on children, some of whom have not even reached the age of puberty?

At a time when so many young people who were victimized by these surgeries are coming forward to reveal the harm that was inficted on them, and the lies which they were told, the Mayor’s comments are as obtuse as they are doctrinaire.

As for Mayor Wu, is there a single social issue where she is not a complete captive of the radical Left?

Doyle’s remarks were published in a story in the Boston Herald, which appeared today, June 16, 2026.
