Vatican Insider: The Pope’s ‘thoughts’ went to “the dear people of Madagascar, who were recently hit by severe natural disasters,” he said after the Angelus, “with serious damage to people, structures and crops.” He ended by saying that: “While I assure the victims and the families of those so greatly tried of my prayers, I hope for and encourage the generous assistance of the international community.” The tropical storm that hit Madagascar a few days ago claimed the lives of 110 victims and left 300,000 people homeless.
