The statistics tell the story. Not all the wounded that return from Iraq and Afghanistan are physically maimed or scarred. Most of the wounded are mentally and spiritually disabled, especially in the emotional aftermath of realizing that they were brainwashed into thinking these wars had a just purpose. Perscription drug use among 18-34 year-olds in the US is epidemic, up 84% than it was before the Afghan/Iraq wars. Obviously, there’s a link in the latter category as well. Furthermore, the more anti-depressant drugs are issued, the higher the number of suicides that will follow.
The Sunday Times: More American military veterans have been committing suicide than US soldiers have been dying in Iraq, it was claimed yesterday. At least 6,256 US veterans took their lives in 2005, at an average of 17 a day, according to figures broadcast last night. Former servicemen are more than twice as likely than the rest of the population to commit suicide. Read more on this here.
