Three of Spain’s Soccer Champs Promised to Make Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela

How coincidental is this! Eleonore Villarrubia just sent in an article of the subject of “Pilgrimages,” in which she highlights that of the shrine of Saint James the Greater in Spain and the penitential walk along the Camino de Santiago that ends at the shrine. Then I read that these Spanish soccer stars promised to make the pilgrimage if they won the World Cup. And I was rooting for the Netherlands on account of the recent conversion of its star Wesley Sneijder. I posted a column about him last week before the final game. Little did I know I was competing against one of the “Sons of Thunder,” Saint James the Greater.

CNA reports: Spanish soccer player Andres Iniesta, who scored the winning goal during the World Cup final in South Africa, has promised to walk the Way of St. James, which leads to Santiago de Compostela. Read more here.
